This is a great hike near the Old Roswell Square. Old Mill Park is at the bottom of the Roswell Mill development and features the Vickery Creek covered bridge and the Mill Dam.
The covered bridge was constructed to connect the walking trail that begins in Old Mill Park to the Chattahoochee River trail system.
The creek has been renamed Big Creek and the remains of the old mill still stand. A 30-foot dam and millrace were constructed on Vickery Creek in the late 1830s to supply power for the mills.
The mill at Roswell was a major objective of General William Sherman. It was destroyed and some of the mill workers were sent north. The mill was rebuilt and continued to operate until the 1970's.
