Trail Ratings

We love to hike and bike and enjoy finding new parks and trails to explore. The rating we give the trails is strictly our own opinion and we are not affiliated with any state site. We would love to hear from you and what your rating might be on your favorite trail.

PLEASE NOTE . . .

  • Trail usage refers to how heavily the trail is used.
  • Features will be noted such as picnic areas, facilities, swimming, birding, camping and pet friendly.
  • Directions to the trail will be given.
Picture
There are three types of trails:
  • Loop: this type of trail brings you back to your starting point without walking on the same path.
  • Point-to-Point: this type of trail is designed to be walked from one place to another and not return to the starting point.
  • In and Out: this trail will take you in and you must turn around and walk back out to the starting path.
Ranking:
  • Easy: occasional grades that are steep or moderate for short periods of time. An easy trail is usually level with no significant hills.
  • Moderate: may have many moderate to steep climbs. These trails can also include areas that are difficult.
  • Difficult: steep sections with treacherous footing or heavily tree-rooted paths.
  • Strenuous: long sections of difficult climbing and usually poor trail conditions.
