This trail is part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The Buford Trout Hatchery is located just south of the Bowman's Island Unit on the river's west bank.
This is a beautiful section of the Chattahoochee River whether you choose to hike or fish in the cold running water.
The hatchery is Georgia's largest and raises over 500,000 stockable brown and rainbow trout for Georgia trout streams each year. Self-guided and group tours are available.
DIRECTIONS FROM ATLANTA:
Take GA 400 North to exit # 14 and turn east onto State Road 20. Travel 4 miles. Turn Left into Chattahoochee River Club subdivision. Take the fourth right onto Trout Place Road. This will dead-end into the Hatchery. We parked on the side of the road for the hike.
